Cohort 2 Applications Now Open
We are now accepting applications for the second cohort of the AI Training Program. The 12-week intensive program begins March 26, 2026, with an Opening Ceremony at 7 PM. Classes run Tuesday through Thursday evenings across five course sections. Apply now to secure your place.
Cohort 2 Schedule Announced
The Cohort 2 academic calendar is set: 12 weeks of evening classes (7–9 PM) from March 31 to June 18, 2026. Five classes across two classrooms — Azure AI Fundamentals (two sections on Tuesday), Gen AI + Prompt Engineering (Wednesday), and AI Consulting + AI Engineering/MLOps (Thursday). Expert lectures every two weeks.

Pilot Year Graduation: 15 Students Complete AI Training Program
The KOICA-TIU-Cheju Halla AI Training Center celebrated its first-ever completion ceremony. Fifteen students graduated after successfully completing the 12-week pilot program covering Azure AI Fundamentals and Generative AI. Project Director Prof. Young Joon Lee presented certificates at the historic ceremony attended by academic guests from TUIT and AUT.


Azure AI Agent Hackathon: Students Present Innovative Solutions
Students showcased AI agent projects built with Azure technologies in the program's inaugural hackathon. Top winners: VCoders (1st place — Global Intelligence Map using Azure OpenAI for geopolitical sentiment visualization), DeepCore (2nd — AI Business Assistant with RAG), and DarkByte (3rd — AI Real Estate Search Platform). Judging panel included representatives from TIU, Microsoft Korea, Avidia Labs, Mohirdev, and UzVIP.

Internship Partnership Signed with Mohirdev
The AI Training Center signed an official internship agreement with Mohirdev, one of Uzbekistan's leading tech education companies. Program graduates will receive 8-week intensive internships with real-world project assignments, mentorship from industry professionals, and KOICA-funded stipends. The first cohort of interns successfully completed their placements from December 2025 to January 2026.

Midterm Evaluation Completed Successfully in Tashkent
A three-day midterm evaluation visit (October 15–17) assessed program delivery, student progress, and industry partnerships. The review confirmed strong performance in Azure-based AI training, positive student feedback, and growing industry collaboration. The team also finalized plans for the December hackathon and expanded the internship pipeline.


AI Training Center Officially Opens in Tashkent
The KOICA-TIU-Cheju Halla AI Training Center held its grand opening ceremony at Tashkent International University. Distinguished guests included H.E. Ambassador Won Doyeon (Republic of Korea), KOICA Country Director Shin Myung Seop, First Deputy Minister Makhkamov, Deputy Minister Umarov, TIU Rector Dr. Jun Yong Wook, and industry leaders from KT and Mohirdev. The center launched with four industry-aligned AI programs and Microsoft Azure certification pathways.

Selected for KOICA Civil Society Cooperation Program
Cheju Halla University's International Development Cooperation Center was selected for the KOICA 2025 Civil Society Cooperation Program. The two-year project, in partnership with TIU, establishes a sustainable AI Education Center in Tashkent. The initiative is supported by Uzbekistan's Ministry of Education, Ministry of Digital Technologies, local IT companies, and academic institutions, addressing SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure).

Partnership Building Mission in Tashkent
An intensive week of meetings in Tashkent established key partnerships for the AI Training Center. Agreements were signed with Digital Education Technologies, IT Investment Center (ITIC), UIC Software Company, PDP University, Westminster University, and the Digital Technologies & AI Research Institute (AIRI.UZ). These partnerships cover curriculum alignment, student exchange, internship pathways, and research collaboration.
Landmark Planning Meeting Brings Together Key Stakeholders
A pivotal meeting brought together TIU's president, professors from TUIT and Cheju Halla University, and KT industry experts to plan the establishment of the AI education center in Tashkent. This meeting laid the groundwork for the program's curriculum design and operational framework.
Initial Feasibility Study in Uzbekistan
A week-long investigation trip to Tashkent assessed the feasibility of an AI Capacity Building program at TIU. The team engaged with government ministries, KOICA and KOTRA offices, local universities, and tech companies. Key findings confirmed significant demand for AI skills, strong government support, and enthusiastic local partners.
